If you’d like two hours of video action which cover the whole gamut of Turkish mayhem, this one is for you. During the opening half of a three-day Kirkpinar #648, you get intense matches in every division, from clumsy boy beginners to risk-taking teenagers, aggressive young adults to the heavyweight pros who know all the tricks.

There is an equally complete variety of fighting styles: nimble and furious lightweights, the rhythmic caution of the national contenders followed by bursts of herculean power, the almost tender embrace of a victor by the gracious loser, the angry outburst of the ungracious loser. Ditto the bodies: wiry, massive, big bellies, chiseled abs, swarthy, blond, handsome faces, scary faces (the scariest, however, is one of the sweetest-natured pehlivans we know).
